I’m So Happy You’re Here!

Meet Kacie

Welcome to Restored Roots Health! I’m so glad you found me.

My name is Kacie and I currently live in North Carolina, but my heart will always be in the great PNW. I am married with two fur children, a rescued, shepherd mix named Ruby and a black lab named Jade.

Although I am currently a full time elementary school counselor, I spend most of my free time reading articles or researching holistic health practices for my family and really anyone who will listen.

As a practicing school counselor for many years, I found I love to help others in many different facets of life. It wasn’t until I found myself enrolled in the Institution of Integration Nutrition (IIN) that I realized my passion for health could turn into a career. The idea of food as medicine was so intriguing to me and seemed so simple. Yet as I dove further into my studies, a whole new world started to open up for me. I thought of myself as pretty healthy already, so how much more is there to learn? Boy, was I wrong.

It can seem like such a daunting task to completely change a mindset or think we have to make these huge changes to our lifestyle. I’m definitely a “do it all in one sitting” girlie so I really had to take a step back and focus on one thing at a time. I wanted to see how emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical health are connected and to what extent. My philosophy is rooted in behavior change and awareness being the driving forces towards making long lasting changes. I can’t wait to work with you in creating these changes that will not only impact you, but those around you!

My Why

I decided to create Restored Roots because in conversations with family, friends, a co-workers, I realized that I was not in isolation in my frustrations surrounding health. Things that I thought should be common knowledge about health were not discussed in conventional medical offices. And I started to wonder why that is. Why is it so difficult to get to the root of an illness? Why do I feel like no one is listening to my symptoms and it’s only “urgent” when it’s past prevention and now crisis? When will health become preventative instead of prescribed after the fact?

I had recently been diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, and had been struggling with a skin rash that decided to stick around for 4 YEARS. I had been to all the doctors and specialists who kept either pushing pills or telling me I’m “too stressed” (thank you, I am aware). I realized I had to make a decision: I could take the pills and feel defeated or I could take back control of my health by educating myself on holistic wellness. I decided to complete my health coaching certificate not only for myself but so that I could help others who may be dealing with similar issues. In looking at the full circle of life, I started making small changes in many different areas of my life.

The idea of developing wellbeing instead of just treating sickness starts with equipping, educating and extending. Much like roots on a tree, holistic health becomes our foundation. A foundation where your best quality of life can thrive. I cannot wait to walk with you on your health journey!
